Moto Camping - Week 6 - Brothers on Bikes

I’ve been bugging my brothers, Alan and Harry, to come moto camping with me, and i finally got them to come. We rented them bikes from jupiter rentals in brooklyn. Great guy, great place, highly recommended. Harry rented a lowered F650GS which is almost identical to my bike just a couple years old before they changed the name to the 700. Alan rented an R1200RT Sport Tourer. I only have a two person tent, so alan bought a personal sized single person tent on the cheap for the night. They took their bikes home for the night, packed them up, and we met up on the palisades parkway state line around 4pm, and continued on to bear mountain for a great time riding and camping.

We drove up to harriman state park / bear mountain. The roads up there were great. We got to our camp site, which was in Beaver Pond Campgrounds. Our site was on a platform, which was a first for me. We quickly unloaded our bikes, set up our tents, and hid our extra gear under the platform. With bare bikes, we got on the roads and enjoyed the roads in the park for a few hours. I’d say that was the highlight of the trip. The roads inside the park were incredible, filled with sports cars and motorcycles. We drove up to the top of a peak for some photos and views, and while up there found E-Harmony filming a commercial. They setup a picknick up there for it.

Back down to our campsite around 7, we switched in to bathing suit mode and hit the awesome lake that was just steps from our camp site. The lake was closed, no life guards. We chanced it and went in anyway. It was such calm cool water and it felt amazing. So refreshign after the ride. After 10 minutes in there, the camp patrol told us we neeeded to get out. We only needed 10 minutes in there anyway.

Refreshed, we went back to the camp site, i jumped in the shower nearby which was actually clean and pleasant. We then went on to build a fire, and start dinner. I loved being around the fire with my brothers. Much needed time together. It was a great experience overall, riding together, camping together, and commuting back to brooklyn the next day to return the bikes. This is the kind of trip that i love and crave. We need more together, but next time further and longer.
